Ms. Suzanne Roach is the Financial Services Ombudsman, appointed May 01, 2010 following\u00a0Ms. Ann Marie Narine, the outgoing Ombudsman.<\/p>\n
Suzanne is a Chartered Accountant with more than thirty-three years\u2019 experience in the financial sector; twenty-three of which has been in the field of internal and external auditing.<\/p>\n
During her career at the Central Bank (joined effective September 1, 1982), Suzanne worked in the Internal Audit function for a period of fifteen years and has served as \u00a0 \u00a0Manager- Internal Audit for twelve years.<\/p>\n
In addition, she has worked in the Financial Institutions Supervision Department for a period of seven years where she participated in the suspension and closure of BCCI, \u00a0Workers Bank (1989) Ltd; and five Non-Bank Financial Institutions.<\/p>\n
She also worked in Banking Operations including Foreign Exchange and Domestic Investments Department where she had responsibility for government securities (tax \u00a0free bonds, treasury bills and public sector arrears bonds) in addition to the accounting for Central Bank and Government income and expenditure.<\/p>\n
Suzanne has also served in various executive capacities in a number of professional associations.\u00a0These included: Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Trinidad and Tobago Chapter; M. Sc. Accounting (UWI) Association of Trinidad and Tobago; and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Trinidad and Tobago Chapter where she served as President for the period 2007 \u2013 2009 and\u00a0 remains a Governor of the Board of Governors.\u00a0Under her stewardship the Chapter continued to receive the Gold Chapter Award for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.\u00a0 She is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT). Suzanne has served as an Examiner with the Institute of Banking and Finance since 2000 and received an award on June 28, 2014 for \u2018substantial contribution\u2019 to the Advancement of the Institute of Banking and Finance of Trinidad and Tobago<\/p>\n
Suzanne\u2019s interest also includes Fund Raising, Public Relations and Financial Counselling.\u00a0She serves as Trustee of the Central Bank Sports & Cultural Club; President of the Soroptimist International of St. Augustine 2009-2011 and Treasurer of the Soroptimist International National Association of Trinidad and Tobago 2006-2012.\u00a0 She was also Treasurer of Soroptimist International Caribbean Network for the period 2011-2013.<\/p>\n
